The Classroom Checkout mobile app submits user queries for information on ISBNs to the Classroom Checkout server using HTTP.
When scanning ISBN codes using the device's camera, images are not transmitted to the Classroom Checkout server and are processed directly on the device.
If using the in-app “Contact Us” feature, the email includes device and operating system information.
Classrom Checkout allows the user to add cover art to books held in the user's Classroom Checkout library using the device's camera. These images are kept with thee user's copy of Classroom Checkout unless the user enables an optional feature (disabled by default), which allows users to share book cover art for potential use in the Classroom Checkout and Literacy Leveler applications. If this feature is enabled, cover art images are transmitted to the Classroom Checkout server using HTTP.
On iOS devices, Classroom Checkout allows the user to optionally sync app information via Apple's iCloud and back up app information to iCloud. Privacy of data transmitted to Apple's iCloud servers is handled by Apple.
On the iPad 2, Classroom Checkout allows the user to optionally make use of the third party app Pic2Shop, if installed, for the purpose of scanning book ISBN barcodes. The information provided to Classroom Checkout by Pic2Shop only includes the 13-digit barcode number of a scanned book. Privacy of data within the Pic2Shop app is not covered by Classroom Checkout's privacy policy.
